Our client is an exciting, well funded startup, located on the east side of Cleveland, focused on producing and selling a high-end, niche consumer products for the athletic industry.  With several professional and elite college programs already using their products, they are well positioned for explosive growth.  The founder of this dynamic company has several successful start-ups under his/her belt and has an impressive Board of Directors that is also actively involved.  They are seeking a hands-on, data-driven, and digitally focused expert, to join their team and lead their Marketing efforts. This is an amazing opportunity to disrupt this segment of the sporting industry with their "game-changing" (pun intended) product.

The leader of Marketing will be responsible for owning all B2C marketing including the marketing portfolio mix allocation, vendor selection and overall CPA results.  As part of their executive team, you will manage a small team to start that will grow as your efforts expand their market reach in their B2C channel.


  • Manage the planning and day-to-day execution of all B2C direct response marketing efforts
  • Leverage A/B testing across all marketing facets including messaging, trial offers and creative
  • Drive rapid test and learning approaches to quickly drive the business forward
  • Track, measure and analyze all initiatives to understand ROI and CPA
  • Leverage appropriate digital marketing and social campaigns and tools when and where applicable to drive product awareness and adoption
  • Work closely with Creative Director to fully integrate all creative content and assets into marketing efforts
  • Drive new customer acquisition and revenue for B2C channel


  • A proven track record of direct response marketing in a consumer based businesses
  • Demonstrated experience driving efficient customer acquisition in key digital channels including but not limited to SEO, SEM, social, influencer, email and content distribution/video
  • Strong understanding of desktop and mobile conversion funnels to collaborate with the team
  • Self-starter that can be strategic but also roll up their sleeves to execute
  • Strong analytic skills and proficiency in Excel or more advanced data tools such as Google Analytics or similar Web based analytics tools
  • Creative thinker with the ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty in a fast growth startup
  • Strong team player and cultural fit
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 5-7 years of direct marketing expertise
  • BA/BS or equivalent working experience
